Train to Paris and then Versailles

I am taking a night train from Munich to Paris and plan on going directly to Versailles. I am getting in at the Paris l'est station. I need to drop off my bag at my hotel (Royal Phare near the Eiffel tower). What's the best way to get from the L'est station to Versailles? Is there a left luggage check at Versailles, or would it be easier to stop at my hotel and drop it off? Thanks for the help!!!

You will want to drop your luggage - there will not be anywhere for you to store it easily. Versailles itself will have space - but if the cobblestones are not very wheel friendly. And you have a bit of a walk to get to the location. If you have the time I would drop it to make things easy and safe.

You should be able to take the Metro to your hotel.

The hotel is near Ecole Militare (Line 8)

Go to : Gare de l'Est - Metro line 7
Direction : Villejuif-Louis Aragon
from : Gare de l'Est (Verdun) to Opera

Change to line 8
Direction : Balard to Ecole Militaire
(about 15 minutes in travel)

Once you drop your bags off - walk to the Eiffel Tower and go to the RER station at Pont d'Alma (it is along the river)

Take the RER C
Direction : Versailles-Rive Gauche (very important)

from : Pont de l'alma to Versailles-Rive Gauche (last stop - about 30 minutes)

I don't want to imply that walking from the hotel to Pont d'Alma isn't a good idea--walking almost anywhere in Paris is delightful!--but you could take the Metro from Ecole Militaire to Invalides and transfer to the RER C to go to Versailles-Rive Gauche. No matter which RER C station you choose, be aware that the line will divide a bit beyond your boarding point. Watch the electronic sign boards to be sure you pick a train that is going to Versailles-Rive Gauche. All trains with the nameplate VICK on the engine do.
