Train to Loire Valley from Paris?

We are planning on taking the train from Paris to the Loire Valley (Round Trip), and renting a car at the train station there for our time in the Loire. We will be staying between Saumur and Chinon. After our time in the Loire, we plan to make a day-trip (as it were) to Mont St Michel, staying in that area for 2 nights (probably in Dinan), before heading back to Paris. My Question is this: Where is the best place to take the train to/from for this part of the trip? I am thinking Rennes, but wonder if perhaps Le Mans or even Angers may be better. Any advice/info appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There is a Hertz licensee at St Pierre-des-Corps TGV station (Tours basicly). Problem with licesees is they are closed for lunch and weekends.

I also picked up my car at the St. Pierre des Corps station. I used Auto Europe. The car rental agencies are right outside the train station and it's easy to drive out of town.

Agree, the station just outside of Tours is a good place for the Loire Valley. Since Saumur is only 3 hrs from either Dinan or MSM, you might want to save some time and money by visiting both areas on the same trip from Paris. Rennes is probably the best place to return the car from Dinan.
