We buying some point-to-point train tickets for our visit in early August to Germany, Austria and Prague. We definitely want EC/IC trains on some routes (like Prague to Berlin). Is there any downside to buying ahead? How far in advance should I/can I buy them?
Thanks!
If you buy full fare tickets ahead on the German Rail query page, they are open ticket, usable on any train. However, using this website, you can also by special discount tickets, like Dauer-Spezial and Europe-Spezial tickets, at a considerable savings. These discount tickets have to be ordered in advance, at least three days, or until they sell out. The downside is that these tickets are train-specific and non-refundable, so you have to be able to commit.
buy all your tickets their. if your worried about seats puchase seat reservations . but you shouldnt need them except for prague.
