Hi you helpful travel gods: We have a flexi Swiss pass and will use it from Lucerne to Interlaken and from Inter. to Monteaux. Plus for boat rides, and for reduced price on the mountain rides where possible. We will be leaving Montreaux for Venice on Sunday Sept. 16. Should we save a Swiss pass day for that day? It isn't clear to us if it will help with the Swiss portion cost of the trip. Plus, it looks like we should make reservations for the 8:30 a.m. train or should we wait until we get into Switzerland to do so? If the pass would help, then we can't prove we have one until we get there. But we fear the train filling up, or is that an unnecessary concern, typically? Thanks for all your guidance.

For Sept 16, I see a fare of 47CHF from Montreux to Domodossola which is about as far as you can get with the Swiss Pass. You can decide if this is worth a day on your pass.
Since it does not appear you have a full four days of big travel, then yes I would save the last day on your Flex Pass for Montreux to Domodossola. 47 CHF is well above what we consider the use point for a Flex pass day, especially since you are getting two for one.
