Train ticket savings - 6 weeks Germany and Austria

We are looking forward to 6 weeks in Bavaria and Austria this summer, but my head is swimming trying to work out train options. My husband, 11 year old son and I will travel together for 2 weeks, after which it's just my son and I. We start in Munich, to Fuessen for 3 days, then back, same day to Salzburg, next Wolfgangsee, Hallstatt, back to Salzburg, hubby travels back to Munich and son and I go to Innsbruck, then back to Zell am See, Salzburg and back to Munich (for 1 week).
Just travel between places mostly, so I am thinking I can use the Bayern and Austrian youth discounts and buy place to place tickets, is that the best way to go in this case?

For train travel in Germany, children under 15 travel free with a parent on a full fare ticket. However, most of your travel in Bavaria can be done in 2nd class (nothing really wrong with 2nd class) with a €29/day Bayern-Ticket. Check the full fare prices on the German Rail (Bahn) website and compare them to the price of a Bayern-Ticket. In Austria, you can go anywhere in 2nd class on regional trains with a €28 Einfach Raus ticket (2-5 people). To get to Wolfgangsee from Salzburg, and for Wolfgangsee on to Bad Ischl, you will need to go by bus. I don't think children are free on the bus, and the Einfach Raus ticket is not valid on buses.
