Train or plane Sevilla to Barcelona

I am struggling about whether to fly or take train between Sevilla and Barcelona. - There are 5 in my party - I am not stopping in between I can get a flight on Iberia for about $100us (just over an hour flight). Train seems cheaper (we are going to get a 3day one country Eurail pass) but there seem to be added fees per person to reserve high speed trains, and obviously, it will burn most of a day (6 hour ride).
Any thoughts as to if it is worth it to fly?

My family and I (5 of us) will be visiting Barcelona in April and will fly from Barcelona to/from Seville while there. I had the same question that you are considering, except my choice was the fast train vs. flying. Eventually I chose to fly because of time constraints and because I found the departure times for the fast train to be very awkward, seeming to be either very early or very late in the day. When I was looking at plane vs train, flying gave me more options as to when I wanted to leave, it was faster, and it was also considerably less expensive. If I had more time, I would be tempted to train one way on the bullet train (6 hours) so that I would see the countryside of Spain, and perhaps fly the other way---that way being able to see the sights yet not have the expense of a round trip bullet train. I found Iberia and Vueling.com both had similar fares. Vueling had a bit more flexibility in departure/arrival times. Let me know if you have other questions. SuzieeQQ

Flying will be faster and possibly cheaper or a wash. On the other hand, you can see the countryside of Spain and how the landscape changes on a train. You can also sit back and relax with your group. Play cards, have drinks, eat dinner. Stretch your legs...

Thank you for your thoughtful replies. I think we are going to fly, as we will take the train from Madrid to Sevilla when we arrive, as well as from Barcelona to Madrid on our return. That was we will see some of the countryside, and bond on the trains!
