Train from Paris to Tours

How much does a roundtrip ticket via train from Paris to Tours cost? I was on the TGV site and kept getting error messages when I tried to put in the specs. I would have to be in Tours by 12:30 to make a 1:30 guided tour. Tour would be done by 6:30. Thanks!

travelgirl,

There's a train departing Paris Austerlitz at 09:21, arriving Tours at 11:40 (time 2H 19M, no changes). On the return trip, there's a train departing Tours at 20:20, arriving Paris Montparnasse at 21:30 (time 1H 10M, 1 change in St-Pierre-des-Corps, reservations compulsory). There's an earlier train at 18:55, but not sure if you'll be able to take that one if your tour doesn't end until 18:30.

I didn't check the cost, but hopefully Lee or Norm will be able to help with that (it may be approx. €21?).

Happy travels!

Did that trip last fall and can't remember the cost but it wasn't too high, at least I didn't think so. The trip took about an hour and there were trains running often. Have a great time.

There is no price break for roundtrip tickets. You will pay for single tickets each way. The standard 2nd class fare for the 09:21 Paris-Tours train is €29.40. The PREM'S fare (booked in advance online discount) is €15.

The fares are the same for the 18:42 train that goes directly from Tours to Paris. The lowest discount fare for the 19:11 departure with a connection at St-Pierre-des-Corps is €21.20. The next lowest discount fare is €36.20. The standard 2nd class fare is €58.20.

To get the discount fares, book ASAP (up to 90 days in advance) at www.tgv-europe.com. To keep everything in English and to keep from being bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares, choose to retrieve your tickets in Great Britain. Don't worry. You'll be able to pick up standard fare tickets at any SNCF station or boutique in France. If you get a PREM'S fare, you print the ticket yourself.
