We will be at the port at lehavre at 7:00 a.m. And need to be back at the port at7:00. We would like to take the train to Paris. We know it is rushed but we don't know when we would be back. So has anyone been and is it doable. Also how far is the station and how do I get my tickets?
The station is about a mile and a half from the cruise port. You can walk it, but the port system runs buses, I'd bet the cruise line will have some kind of shuttle set up. Trains run every hour or two and the trip is two to two point five hours depending on which one you catch. A wild guess on the price is about twenty-five bucks each way.
The 08.03 will get you to Paris St. Lazare at 10.10. Coming back, the 16.20 from St. Lazare arrives Le Havre at 18.43, but that is too close for comfort, so the 15.50 would get you there at 17.55. Looking at the timetable, I think there will probably be slight variations in the departure times depending on exactly when you travel and the day of the week, but you will see your options for the date you specify if you use the journey planner on http://en.voyages-sncf.com and you can buy your tickets on there as well (select France as your ticket collection country). If you buy your tickets well in advance then return fares should be around €30.
The standard 2nd class fare is €33.50 each way. The cheapest advance Prem's fare is €15.00. To get that fare, book ASAP (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com. You can print your own tickets for Intercites trains.
