I am travelling from Fussen to Dachua and then Dachua to Rothenburg in one day. 1. Can all this be done on one Bayern ticket? Is this the best way to do this trip. I had originally planned to stop in Munich, but I now think there just won't be enough time. 2. There is two train stations in Dachua - Bahnhof and Stadt - which one would I get off at to take the bus to the concentration camp?
Thank-you for the help.
Second question first: Dachau Bahnhof then the 726 bus. Yes, just leave Fuessen after 9 am and stick to local trains. The best connection leaves shortly at 10:06 am and gets to Dachau at 12:39 after a change in Munich. Then you have 7 hours. dep 19:38 and arrive at Rothenburg at 22.49 after changes in Treuchtlingen and Steinach. (current schedule) http://www.kz-gedenkstaette-dachau.de/directions.html
Train connections at www.bahn.com. Just enter a stopover at Dachau and how long you want to be there. With the Bayern ticket its 22 Euro.
First place, it's "Dachau" - A-U. Dachau Bahnhof, the station on the S2 line, not Dachau Stadt, on the A line, is the station to catch the bus (726) to the memorial. The Bayern-Ticket is valid for unlimited travel on regional trains all day long. If you go from Füssen to Rothenburg in one day, it is valid for the whole trip. Trains from Füssen to Munich stop in Pasing, the west bahnhof, but trains to Dachau divert from the main line one stop closer to Munich, at Laim, so you can get off in Pasing, but you have to take an S-Bahn into Laim, then catch the next S2 out to Dachau. Or you can go all the way into Munich Hbf and catch the S2 out to Dachau, but you might miss the shortest trip.
Thank-you both for your quick responses. Is there luggage storage at the Dachau train station or somewhere close that we would be able to store our backpacks?
