Train from Calais France to Bayeux

I'd like to take the train from Calais to Bayeux, leaving Calais about about 3pm. From the online train schedule, it looks like the last train leaving Calais is at 1:26 pm. Can this really be so? Any advice on getting from Calais to Bayeux via train later than that? Thank you!

The good news is that you certainly can leave later in the day. The bad news is that no matter what time of day it is, you will have to go via Paris so it's a fairly long ride. 1. Leave Calais Ville at 14:35, connect at Lille Flandres, and arrive at Gare du Nord at 17:14. Take the RER E from Magenta (linked to Gare du Nord) to Haussmann - Saint-Lazare. You'll have to buy a Metro/RER/bus ticket for the ride. Walk to Gare Saint-Lazare. Leave there at 18:10 and arrive in Bayeux at 20:15. For a zoomable map of the Metro & RER system, go here: http://tinyurl.com/6xmvms4. 2. Leave Calais-Frethun at 16:32 and arrive at Gare du Nord at 18:14. Make your way to Gare Saint-Lazare. Leave Gare Saint-Lazare at 20:45 and arrive in Bayeux at 23:04. The usually infallible German Rail site lists one more option: taking the Eurostar from Calais-Frethun to Lille Europe which leaves at 15:02, walking from Lille Europe to Lille Flandres, taking another train from Lille Flandres to Gare du Nord, and still another from Gare Saint-Lazare to Bayeux. Unfortunately, this is not possible. While a few eastbound Eurostar trains stop in Calais and people can get off there, no boarding is allowed in Calais. When are you taking this trip? If it's 15 July or later, then things get even more complicated. Major work on the line between Paris and Bayeux will begin in mid-July and the normal 2-hour ride will take 3-5 hours and will require several connections. The latest you could leave Calais and still get to Bayeux on the same day would be 10:32. If that's too early, then you would have to go to Paris, spend the night there, and travel to Bayeux in the morning.

Thank you for your kind replies. We decided to just rent a car at the ferry terminal in Calais and drive to Bayeux. Much simpler, although we will miss the joy of riding the train through the French countryside. Thank you again!
