I want to travel from Barcelona to Nice. Rick's RailPass map shows this as a 9 hour trip - why so long? His link to the DB Bahn web site said "no route found" after trying all 6 Barcelona stations and 4 Nice stations. Is there a better train info site that doesn't require you to know the correct station? Help!

Try the sncf.fr website. There are no direct trains.
Also: if your date is too far in the future, it won't show... so pick a date on the same weekday on a sooner date instead, just to get an idea.

We tried that, too, and were told there was a long layover in Marseilles. If you're in a hurry (which we were) you can fly. If you're not, you might take a couple of days and enjoy a leisurely trip, stopping in Collioure and/or Cassis for a night.

Thanks for the help. Travelling from Barcelona to Villefranche-sur-mer (Nice) turns out to be a challenge - too long, too expensive. So I've desided to switch Barcelona for Paris.
