I'd like more info about tours in Grenada. In addition to the ones in Rick's book (Cicerone and Margarita), we've read about Stephen and Anne (granadapicnictours.com). Has anyone tried them? Unable to contact Margarita by email - so [email protected] must have changed. Wide variation in price and what is included. We have 3 nights and 2 full days staying at Hotel Puerta de las Granadas (as recommened in book). Would like to hear of people's experiences and recommendations for tours.
Hi Nancy-
I was in Granada in December for 3 days/2 nights. We didn't hire a tour guide but followed Rick's self-guided walking tours through the different neighbhorhoods which were very informative and we were able to go at our own pace. Also, at Alhambra there are the guided audio tours which were fantastic. We supplemented that with Rick's Spain 2010 book, too and felt very informed about what we were seeing.
My top recommendations for things to see in Granada are the Alhambra (goes without saying...) the San Nicolas viewpoint up in the Albaycin. Rick mentions it in his book. Can be hard to find but once you find it you won't want to leave, and depending on the weather when you are there, visiting the Hammams or arab baths. It was cold and rainy on day when we were there and finished the day with a relaxing hour and a half at the Hammam baths: http://www.hammamspain.com/granada/
Enjoy your trip!
