Tour guides in Normandy and Dordogne

I want to hire a private tour guide for a half day or full day for exploring the WWII sites of Normandy and the prehistoric art caves of Dordogne. My 14 year old son will be with me. Any recommendations for great guides?

For Normandy, Battlebus does private tours if you want, but there are only 7-8 folks on the regular tours in their little mini-bus, so it's almost like a private tour. Check them out. They're great.

Lisa, I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "private tour guide for ... the prehistoric art caves ..." The Lascaux cave (or replica, to be precise) allows entrance in groups only, accompanied by a Lascaux guide. Were you thinking you would have a private guide in the cave?

The Caen Peace Museum also has tours of the D-Day sites. You can spend half a day touring the museum, then half day on a mini-van tour. Our guide was young, but adequate. It was convenient as we were staying in Caen, and tour departed and returned right from the museum. Here is a link to my blog posting where I have pictures of the D-Day sites, and other tour recommendations from Rick. Be sure to watch the video at the end "France Will Never Forget"

It's an incredible, must see sight.

I second the vote for Battlebus--our guide was terrific. We spent a full day, and there were only 6 people in our group.
