Will be arriving in Barcelona by cruise ship. Would like to find a guide to meet us at the ship and give us a city tour. Staying at a hotel in main part of the city for four days. Suggestions please and contact information. Thanks.

Can't provide a good guide suggestion, but a couple thoughts:
While you're there I'd suggest the Barri Gotic walking tour given by the TI in Barcelona. I think an English version runs each morning from the TI in Placa Sant Jaume. You could start a Gothic Quarter day with the tour then spend the rest of the day visiting the sights you're most interested in at your own pace.
The only place in Barcelona we felt like we were "eating local" was El Xampanyet (Carrer de Montcada, 22 08003 Barcelona). Most Tapas places in Barcelona are chains and really nothing special. This place seems authentic and lively.
