Will be spending 4 nights in Madrid, including New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The only day available to take the AVE train into Toledo for us is New Year's Day/Night. What should we expect? Will the town pickup a bit in the evening, after the family meals? Will there be anything open on a holiday like this? Is just strolling the old city, even if nothing's open, worth the trip in itself? Molto grazie.
Gio....We enjoyed Toledo earlier this year BUT if the old city is mostly closed I don't think it would be worth a trip there just to wander about. We found it very appealing but also very confusing. We had a map but the little lanes and alleys are not marked. We often consulted the locals for directions. They were very helpful but if everything was closed we would have been pretty lost.
