Toledo Hotel

We'll be in Toleodo November 12-13. I'm debating between Hotel Santa Isabel and La Posada de Manolo. Thoughts on either? Or any other hotel in Toledo? We'll have a car. Thanks for any input.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Santa Isabel last year and enjoyed our stay. We've not stayed at La Posada de Manolo, so I'm afraid I can't give a biased review between the two.

But, the Santa Isabel is located near the big cathedral (which is well worth a peek) and situated well within walking distance of Toledo's main sights. Come to think of it, I'm sure most hotels are well-situated, as Toledo isn't that large. Our room was great, no complaints, and overall it is a typical Rick Steves' recommendation: clean, serviceable, friendly staff, etc.

We didn't have a car, though, and I'm not sure I would have wanted to drive up to the hotel (we took a taxi from the train station and marveled at his driving prowess on "streets" that here in Chicago we call back alleys). But if they can guarantee parking, the hotel would be well worth considering.

I have not stayed at the Hotel Santa Isabel, but have stayed at the Posada De Manolo...two times in the past two years, and have a reservation for a third stay in early November. It is centrally located, near the cathedral, well operated, and has a very good continental breakfast served on the top floor (inside) overlooking the cathedral. Highly recommended!!

PS
Mention Rick Steves Book and there is discount at Posada de Manolo!

We recently stayed at hotel Cardenal in Toledo and it is a very nice place--surrounded by lush gardens and it has an atrium/courtyard. It has parking available and is convenient to the escalators that get you up to the top of the town. They also have a good restaurant.

We also stayed at Posada De Manolo and enjoyed our stay! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff very helpful and the location great! I'm not sure about parking--ask the hotel staff. The street going by the hotel is very narrow.

Thanks to all of you for hotel suggestions. We did book the Hotel Santa Isabel for those 2 nights. We were able to get superior rooms with views for 65 and 70E. Breakfast is 5E, but we get the 5% Rick Steves discount. I'll check out the others when there as we debated on all three. We will find a garage right away, and either taxi or walk to the hotel with our carry-on luggage. Thanks again...looking forward to Spain and Toledo!
