To London and/or Paris via air ...

I read on a post that it can be very cheap to fly in Europe - I never even thought about it because I assumed train was the only inexpensive way to go. Is this correct that air fares are not that expensive? I am considering a flight from Germany to London and/or Paris anytime in an off season. Does anyone have experience flying rather than train/bus/driving? Thanks!

Look at skyscanner.com for some suggestions on flights and prices. Ryanair and Easyjet and Airberlin are also cheap choices, if they are not listed in skyscanner.

Patty, the only downside to flying around Europe is the really low size and weight luggage allowance. So check it carefully for each airline (they're all different). However, I managed to pack for six weeks from the US and still stay within the Berlin Air allowance. For me, flying around Europe was cheaper than train travel, since I wanted to be flexible and did not take advantage of cheap train fares by buying way in advance. That said, advance airline tickets are cheaper, too.

Patty, if you fly Ryanair be aware that LondonStansted is about 1.5 hours by bus from London, the train is faster but also costs more. The Paris airport is also outside of central Paris, I'm not sure how much it costs or exactly how you get to central Paris. That being said, I take Ryanair a lot from Frankfurt Hahn. PM me with any questions.
