Hi, we will be spending 5 nights in Austria/Tirol Zillertal valley August 2013 and want to do day hikes up at the end of the valley in the Tux/Hintertux area. Thought we would try taking the lift from Lannersbach (Eggalmbahn) and check out hiking up there. Looks to be less crowded. I can't figure out if the lift going up to the glacier (out of Hintertux) accesses hiking trails or not. Any suggestions/recommendations? (We are two adults who can hike 5-10 miles and 2-3000 feet elevation gain)

Bob, I will be hiking and biking between Mayrhofen and Hintertux in mid-July. I will feed back near-real time information after my trip. You may want to check out "Trekking in the Zillertal Alps" by Allan Hartley (Cicerone Press). It's more of a hut-to-hut kind of book but it could probably give you some ideas. I just bought a copy on Google Play for $10.
