Tips for stops between Normandy beaches and Bruges

Hi

My husband, daughter (age 11) and I will be visiting France and Belgium in August. We will rent a car in Paris and plan to spend a couple of days in Normandy (our reservations are in Arromanches). We have one long travel day, from Normandy to Bruges -- it appears to be ~ 5 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions for one or two scenic stops along that route? We aren't in a huge rush and it would be great to break up the trip and stretch our legs. Also looking for any recommendations for places to stop for lunch along the way (someplace around the mid-way point?)

Any suggestions are appreciated

Thanks

Christine,

I am planning a similar trip for next year. My longest drive is from Honfleur to Ghent. You may want to stop in Honfleur. I hear it is a beautiful seaport town. I am planning on stopping in Rouen on our way to Ghent. I bought a France map and I am in the process of figuring the travel times. Rouen looks like it is 1/2 way to Ghent so it would be a good stop for lunch. Let me know how your trip goes. Have a great time.
