Time to wait at Munich airport--what to do to pass the time?

We are meeting family at the Munich airport. My sister will have a number of hours to wait for the rest of the group. In current times, are there lockers available at the airport to store luggage during the wait? Has anyone taken the Munich "behind the scenes" airport tour and if so, how is it? If they wanted to take the bus to nearby Freising, how complicated is that? Thank you.

Finding the bus to Freising is not complicated. Although I haven't taken the bus to Freising, I have come to the airport on the bus from Freising twice. After you pick up your luggage and go through customs (usually a walk through), you come out into the "lobby" area of the terminal. There is a covered plaza straight ahead, outside. Turn right and go down the aisle to the end of the building. The bus stop is out in the parking area. Take bus 635. One leaves the bus stop every 20 minutes. The trip takes 24 minutes. Go to this map. Click on the Flughafen Muenchen at the top. Then click on "Stationsplan". The bus stop is shown on the top right of the Stationsplan.

I had a (too short) stop at that airport, but I remember thinking - this was one of THE nicest airports I've probably ever flown through - the food options were amazing. I would have liked a few more hours to stroll around and check out the shops and eat some more. Sorry, that's my only comment - I wouldn't feel too bummed to wait there for a few hours.

I got this advice from the woman checking my bag: If you want a cup of coffee, go to the supermarket at the airport (she gave me directions). It is lots cheaper than getting it in the restaurant. I did this and had the choice between a disposable cup and a china cup; for the latter, I had to pay a deposit, which I got back when I left. I guess people steal these with the logo on them. This is a typical supermarket; they also sell wrapped sandwiches and pastry. Munich is my favorite airport in Europe.

I can't believe no one has suggested the Airbrau beer garden in the glass enclosed atrium between the two terminals. Just the place to get into the Bavarian mood.

Thank you for your helpful ideas. Does anyone know if there are lockers for temporary storage of travel bags at the Munich airport?
