Tight connection between train and bus in Germany - Bad Tolz

We need to take a train from Munich to Bad Tolz, then a bus to Bad Heilbrunn. The connection time between train and bus always seems to be only 5-6 minutes at any time of the day! And the bus apparently only runs every 1.5 hours. Is this really doable?? Do they really expect that we can get off the train and onto a bus that quickly? I'm worried!! I need someone to calm my fears. ;) (I'll be traveling with my mother & my 3-year-old son... so we won't be the fastest moving travel group either!)

Looking at the Bahn schedule, it appears that the train from Munich always arrives on track 1, the track closest to the Bahnhof building. Also, from the Bahnhofplan from from the Bayern Takt website, bus platform 2 is where the bus leaves for Bad Heilbrunn, and it is right across from the middle of the platform.

This schedule is deliberately made up to allow people to make the connection. If you are ready to get off the train when it stops (that means out of your seats and into the end of the car. This isn't a plane, you don't have to remain seated until it comes to a complete stop), you should have plenty of time to make the connection.

Thank you soooo much for your help!! Do you think we could buy the bus ticket ON the bus? (or ahead of time in the Munich train station?)

Germans are amazing with the timing of transfers like this. I think it likely that they have it planned perfectly for you to make it. I never missed a transfer when I spent 4 months in Germany.

I agree with Jennifer. The Germans have all this timed. The bus is coming to the station specifically to pick up passengers from the train, and it will wait for you to get on. And yes, you can buy the ticket on the bus. Unlike buses here in Denver, the driver will give change.

Karin, in case you're still worried about connection time (don't be, it always works out over here in Germany!) or whether you can buy your ticket on the bus, here's the info email address of the bus company carrying out that service: [email protected]They don't seem to have an English language website, but I'm 100% sure that someone answering those emails will be able to respond to your questions in your language.
