Ticketing across borders

We plan to travel by train from Landstuhl to Appenzell - hopefully on a weekend when we can use a Happy Weekend ticket to Konstanz on the Germany-Switzerland border. I've checked the train schedules & depending on our timing, we either continue on to Kruezlingen before having to change trains or have a very quick (5 minute) change at Konstanz. Does anyone know if I can purchase tickets from Konstanz to Appenzell at the Landstuhl bahnhof before boarding or if I can purchase them on board? The Deutsche bahn website says tariff cannot be calculated due to international travel. I can't find this information on the SBB (Swiss Rail)site - just that there will be 3-4 days delay in providing a price quote. We'll be flying in military space available so don't know exact dates of arrival/travel. I'd just like to know if I can continue on when I reach the border instead of having to get off, purchase a ticket, & wait an hour for the next train going that way. I appreciate any information you may be able to provide. Thanks!

There is a ticket office at the Landstuhl train station, but I don't know if you can buy international tickets there (but you can at least ask). You may have to buy a ticket to a bigger station, like Frankfurt, Mannheim or Kaiserslautern, then buy your international ticket there.
