We will stay 3 days on the outskirts of Augsburg in late August. We hope to take day trips to Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Dachau. We will have a rental car. I have Rick's book, but I'm looking for suggestions for specific things to see in the area (specifically Augsburg). There will be four 60ish adults. Any helpful advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

From Augsburg, go north past Donauwörth to Harburg and see the old castle there. Then, Nördlingen is only a few minutes from there and is another walled city, like Rothenburg, but less touristy.

You may want to go to the "romantic Rad' website. They spell out attractions in villages and rowns along the oute (probably in places they stop).

"probably in places they stop" You must be taking about the Romantic Road Coach website, www.romantic-road.com. The official website for Romantic Road Tourism, www.romantischestrasse.de has complete information about places, accommodations, and tours, not just the RR Coach.
