This is my plan...for now....30 days worth

HI,
Ok this is my plan - I would like feed back since I am not really good at the train thing and don't know the cost of the same - where do I find that? I can see the trip and connections but where is the fee? and what type of ticket is best for me do you think? at what cost?

I will arrive 17th Munich and spend 2 nights there just to get my inner clock straight. I have a place near the airport - On the second day what should I do?

On the 19th I will book a zimmer in the Schwangau area - don't know which one yet...I should be within bus stop distance to Fussen and the train station..I hope. I am based there for 11 nights - is this a good idea to base out of Schwangau? -I certainly like the look of it, so that if I veg out for a day or two I am in pleasant surrounding not urban but I could maybe do the zimmer for a few days (5)in Schwangau area and then go to a pension in Fussen - this is more money per night but how much would the bus to Fussen station per trip befrom the zimmer at Schwangau? and then how much time will that take up - is it worth the extra cost to stay in Fussen and be nearer the train station because I would like to day trip or maybe overnight to Salzburg and another to Strasbourg or Colmar.

I wouldn't mind doing Heidleburg and Rothenburg but out of which base??

Next.... I will go to Bachrach into a zimmer or Pension there. I am looking at a zimmer for 14 per night at a vineyard (how bad will that be? does cheap mean crappy?) or a hotel for 35 this one is close to the train. I would like to go to the Mosel area for a day trip on a ship and do the Rhine on other days or what else? this will be a 7 day base.

Then I have 4 days to do what?? go where?? from there

and then back to Munich for 4 days at my close to the airport hotel to do the Munich thing -anything out of the ordinary and interesting there?

and then home.
look forward the hearing from you guys - Nova

It would really be helpful if you could ask one question at a time -- or at least a couple of related questions.

Nova, I'd have to give some thought to your questions. There are too many "variables" with each of your questions which makes it difficult to come up with an immediate answer.

However, one thing I'd like to comment on is your time in Munich at the end of the trip. There's really no need to book a "close to the airport hotel". Staying downtown in the vicinity of Marienplatz and the Munich Hbf will be much easier for sightseeing in the city. It's VERY easy to get to the airport via the S-Bahn (S8), and only about a 30 minute trip.

Which airline are you using on the flight home?

Cheers!

I agree, don't stay near the airport, find a place closer into town so you can sightsee more easily. If you'll stay up until a reasonable bedtime local time your first night, your time clock should be adjusted by the next morning. And if you're in town, you can easily do some sightseeing then have supper before giving into sleep. Then you won't waste time going back and forth from the airport.

Schwangau seems to me like a somewhat out of the way place for a base, tho it would be very nice for a 'veg out' place. Be sure and take the walk up above Neuschwanstein at some point, and to see Hohenschwangau as well.

Strausburg & Colmar are both great visits; I'd chose Rothenburg over Heidleburg. If you do the Mosel area, be sure to visit Rick's favorite castle, Burg Eltz - it is a wonderful hike. I based in Chochem for the Mosel area and found LOTS to do; the boats are very convenient; and the day float on the Rhine is not to be missed. And, I wouldn't be that close to the Berner Oberland and not go to Switzerland! Hope this helps...sounds like a fun trip!
