I'm going to Germany in a few weeks and I was wondering what there is to do in Stuttgart. I'll have about one day there and I'm not sure what there is to see exactly.
Corrin,
The city itself is not very spectacular in my opinion, I used to live there , but tehre is a nice park you can walk or relax for a bit.
I'm remembering now of a museum, with nice from around the globe collections. Maybe it was the Arts Museum or Natural history ??? I can't recall the name of it, it's been a while since I lived there. You always can google Stuttgart.
I don't know about Stuttgart itself, but outside, to the south, Herrenberg is a cute, old town with ruins of a wall. Tübingen is an old university town on the Neckar river. Farther to the south is Freudenstadt, sometimes called the captital of the Black Forest, with its big town square.
For tourist information on Stuttgart, go to their website, www.stuttgart.de, and click on the British flag symbol for English.
Do you like cars? Porche and Mercedes call home there and have museum and tours ...
If you don't have a hotel yet, I'd like to recommend the Hotel Astoria. It's just around the corner from a metro stop to the airport and a couple of metro stops from the train station. We arrived late in the day but found nice restaurants and a shopping area nearby. The hotel brochure said that they were near an art museum but I'm not sure which one...the rate was only 45 Euro and it included a fantastic breakfast.
