My family is in Kempten, Germany (near Munich) with a car. It looks like it will be raining for the next several days. We have seen the King Ludwig castles and some Munich sights. We would like suggestions on indoor activities near Munich, in Augsburg or any surrounding community.

Ottobeuren Abbey is quite breathtaking if you like baroque. It lies of few miles east of Memmingen, about 30 km from Kempten.

depending on the ages/gender of your kids i second the the suggestion for the mercedes museum near stuttgart. it is amazing. we spent five hours and it wasnt too much. you can even eat lunch there.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Deutches Museum. I've been with my hubby once and then took the kids there. We had to literally drag them out of there. Its like the Smithsonian for Germany -- such good interactive displays. Almost everything includes English signage, so it is a VERY easy museum to tour.
