The Tour de France today in Provence

The Tour de France is on TV.....the VERSUS channel--you will have to find it on your local cable network.

Today they start in Marseilles and at one point go to Arles and though the Bouche de Rhone, the Camargue, etc. and end in Montpellier. Should be good sightseeing!

They do repeat the coverage so again check your cable coverage! I watched some yesterday and it was fun to watch the countryside and the small villages. Yesterday they were in the Var.

The views of the area from helicopter shots are great. The announcers have traveled France from top to bottom many times and know a lot about the areas the race travels through. They often make comments about great things to see or do in a particular area.

I loved the views of Les Baux and the area around there...so many olive groves and LEs Alpilles, as well as Arles. Having been there, it really was nice to see these views.

The next part I am looking forward to is when they climb Mt. Ventoux which we drove up.

This coverage will be repeated during the day and I believe there is a recap tonight. Every day there will be coverage until the end in Paris.

Even if you don't like bicycle racing (not exactly the most exciting spectator sport), it is worth watching just for the views.

We love watching the Tour both for the race and for the scenery. We love Paris and France and it makes us feel like we're actually there. We were on the Champs Elysees for the finish in 2001 and honestly, watching it on TV is better. You get to see so much more and of course the announcers (Bob, Phil and Paul) are great. If we can't be in France on vacation then being here and watching the Tour is the next best thing! Go Lance!

Isn't it great? Almost like having your own travel videos. We were in Les Baux and Marseilles less that a month ago. Glad we were in a car though!
