We left Paris at 9:00 am and rented a car (with Sixt car rental...very pleased!). The car we rented had a GPS... what a god send!! I think it was worth renting a car, but I would suggst renting it near the outskirts of Paris.
We drove to the War Memorial, then to Omaha Beach. THUMBS UP
After that we drove 1.5 hours toward Mont St. Michel, and stayed at a chateau about 15 min from there. The Count said the chateau belonged to his ancestors from his mother's side since 1700's. We stayed in his grandmother's room, which he also stayed in when he was a young boy.
This morning, we drove to Bayeux and saw the tapestry and then headed back to Paris. Worth stopping by if you can. We got there at 11 am and missed the tour groups.
Its 9:55 at night right now, and I'm trying to pack as I head home tomorrow. Boo Hoo!! I'll miss my apartment near Notre Dame, and my daily croissant in the morning.
