Help! I am traveling to Spain on May 3rd for 11 glorious days of solo travel in Madrid, Seville and Barcelona.
Can anyone give me a list of the minimum to pack?
I am hoping to manage with one carry on bag and one small daypack/purse.

While they are not specific to Spain, there are several packing tips/lists in the Travel Tips section of Rick's site. Of course, you'll need to adapt this info for your destination, but at least this is a good place to start!

Leslee, 11 days is easy.
1 pair shorts (for those really hot days)
1 skirt (black for evening/ or hot days)
1 pair carpi pants (for daily touring)
4-5 tops
1 sweater
1 lightweight rain coat w/hood
2 pairs shoes (1 sandal, 1 closed toe)
2-3 pair socks
3-4 panties
2 bras (one to wear, one on the ready)
minimum cosmetics (blush/mascara/lipstick)
shampoo/conditioner
brush/comb
sunscreen/body lotion
tooth brush/paste
sunglasses
camera/batteries
iPod/MP3 player
book to read/guide book
laundry soap/i.e. woolite
There might be a thing or two I've missed, but this
is what I work with for 14 days on the road.
This should all fit in a carry on with Cubic inches of 2400 or less - and you should have room for purchases

I have not been to Spain, but the list of items posted above sounds good to me. I would guess they dress modestly but with flair in the summer. I find that I like to buy clothes in the country I visit, because there are always different styles, and I like to get into the spirit of the place and blend in. So pack light and assume you will buy more things -- t-shirts, scarves, jewelry, cotton skirts, purses -- are easy things to buy no matter what your size. And they make great souveniers for yourself.
Bring shoes from home that are broken in, and slacks that fit you.
One think I have found in going to England, Italy and France 5 times in the past 7 years is, I don;t think you need to pack a raincoat. I did for first few times and literally did not use it. I went in October and November each time. An umbrella should be all you need. Check the 10 dayweather forecast for Spain before leaving and adjust your clothes accordingly.
