The Louvre Musee

Hi,
My Boyfriend and I are going to Paris for the 1st time for 3 days. We would like to see the Louvre but i have a question:
I would like to know if I should see the Louvre Museum at night6PM-10PM or during the day,9AM-6PM? Is it really that crowded during the day?

Aurora, a few other suggestions....

The Louvre is massive in size. I'd recommend focusing on just one wing, unless you'd prefer just a "blitz" through all of them. If you're interested in seeing the Mona Lisa, it's still in the Denon Wing AFAIK.

If you're travelling with an I-Pod, you might enjoy Rick's free audio tours of the Louvre. Nothing better than getting a "personalized" tour from Rick when touring the Louvre (or other sites).

You might want to consider a Paris Museum Pass, as that will help avoid the long queue's for tickets. If you're planning to visit other sites in Paris (covered by the Pass), it's a good value!

If you have time and are interested in Art, I'd also recommend visiting the Musee d'Orsay. It has an incredible collection of impressionist art, contained in a beautiful and elegant old building (which used to be a train station).

Happy travels!

The crowds will be thinnest the first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon. Be aware that the only evening hours are on Wednesdays and Fridays and the museum is closed on Tuesdays.

The crowds are only big at the most popular areas. If you want to see the Mona Lisa or the nearby "masters" paintings, go early or late. Otherwise, the rest of the Louvre is quiet at any time. The place is so immense that most people just go for the most popular sights, then leave.
