Hi EDNA I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I wonder, from curiosity if you don't mind, do you expect to push a stroller or will you use a backpack to carry her? I hadn't heard of such small children making the pilgrimage. And congrats...

I think many people stay in refugios (more like youth hostels), and I don't think you can book them. If you're intending to stay in hotels you need to check your route to make sure that's feasible, and I might feel a need to book them, although September may be a bit late enough in the season you would be OK. I'd find a good guidebook or three, and I'd get in some practice so you know how far you can go in a day.

I have not done it, but I have read accounts of others' walks, and they speak of sometimes arriving at a place to find the refugios full (you cannot book them ahead). In that case, you would have to get a hotel. In September you shouldn't have a problem finding a place, though it is risky. If a refugio is full, the hotels in that town might be booked, too.

When I did this Camino 3 years ago there was no hotel in the center of Redondela. The standard stages from there are: Pontevedra (18K) - Caldas de Reis (24K) - Padron (21K) - Santiago (26). All of these places have several hotels and you should be able to make reservations via their websites. An excellent guidebook is "A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino Portugues" by John Brierley.
