The Bavarian Alps in Feb.

We have business in Pfronten, Germany but will have a few days afterwards for ourselves. What is most worth seeing in winter months that is close by. Does Innsbruck, St.Gallen, Zurich, or Northern Italy have something worth our last few days? Thanks in advance!

Certainly Fuessen (castles at Hohenschwangau), Oberammergau, Linderhof, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Mittenwald are all worth seeing and closer.

Munich, if you have never been there, is worth a trip and not that far away. Take the bus to Fuessen and the train to Munich, or the train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and another train from there.

You might also want to check out Oberstdorf in the Illertal of the Oberallgäu. You can get there by bus from Pfronten or by train via Kempten and Immenstadt. Another nice place, closer than St. Gallen, is Lindau, an island city in Germany on Bodensee.

I spent three days in Pfronten last Labor Day. Beautiful town. Are you visiting DECKEL MAHO?

Great time of year if you're a skier. Less so if you're not, but the famous palaces and castles are open all year. Zurich is not that close, so I would leave that out. Innsbruck is a great base for winter sports, but the city itself is a bit industrial.
