Never stayed there, but it's a good location, though very busy...you won't be in a residential area. You're near the flower market, Muntsplien, Amsterdam City Museum, Rembrantsplien. There are two excellent cinemas nearby: Pathe Tushinski, and Pathe Munt. Also almost all the tram lines cross this area.
You can take a virtual walk around the area by heading here: http://g.co/maps/43wq For reviews head over to http://www.tripadvisor.com

Thanks Michael, we are going to be there for out honeymoon and I have been looking for day trips to take and never considered asking about where we will be staying... Living in the states, I pretty much know areas, not so much abroad and considering this is our first time over the pond, I want to have my ducks in a row. Thanks again! If you have any must things to do feel free to suggest! RC

You're welcome. Also very nearby are two excellent historic homes/mansions which can be toured: Museum Geelvinck Hinlopen Huis Museum Van Loon They are both on the same street (Keizersgracht), along with the excellent FOAM photography museum.
