Thanksgiving in Amsterdam

I will be in Amsterdam over Thanksgiving and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for good restaurants to eat at on Thanksgiving day.

I am a vegetarian (as are the other people I will be traveling with) so the traditional Thanksgiving food is not required...just someplace nice where we can relax for awhile and stuff ourselves with yummy food. Maybe somewhere with a great view?

Thanks!

Thanksgiving is an American holiday. It is not celebrated in Holland or anywhere else in Europe. November 22 is just another regular day across the pond.

I'm quite aware that it is an American Holiday (a pretty silly one at that).

I'm just looking for somewhere nice to celebrate being in Amsterdam with my friends and family and it just so happens to fall on an AMERICAN holiday. Silly me.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Gwen - I was recently in Amsterdam and my husband and I greatly enjoyed our meal where we tried rijstaffel. It's Indonesian and involves many small dishes served with rice. Quite a few are vegeterian. Think Indonesian Dim Sum. It seems like perfect long dinner to share with friends IMO. Ask your hotel to reccomend a place nearby.

If the holiday was not part of the issue, why ask where to eat on Thanksgiving Day? It is just another Thursday in Amsterdam. Why not just ask about good vegetarian restaurants if that's what you wanted to know? There was no reason to jump on Michael for pointing that out, IMO, since that seemed to be your point in asking.

Thank you for your suggestions. I really appreciate it.

My, I was a little bit of a grouchy pants wasn't I? I apologize.

Let me explain- yes it will be MY Thanksgiving, being that I am American. Which means that on that particular day my family will be joining together and enjoying each others company in AMERICA, so to alleviate any kind of homesickness that I will be feeling in EUROPE I would like to enjoy the company of my friends at a nice dinner in lieu of Thanksgiving. Does this clear things up? So not Thanksgiving, but kind of Thanksgiving. I think it's a fair question.

Also, it does seem like people here can be a little condescending sometimes, instead of offering friendly advice. IMO.

Really though... I apologize. Bad day and I took it out on Michael. Sorry Michael.
