Thanks so much to everyone who generously shared their advices, tips and informations. Our trip would not have gone as good if I didn't have the help from this forum.
In Paris,I took the advice from this forum and wrote the hotel name and address on a card and gave it to the driver.I bought the bicycle chain lock to use in the train which we never used. I felt silly now. It was safe.
Switzerland is so beautiful Wengen was a good base for us. It was only15 minutes from Lauterbrunnen. Half Board is good. We had the Half Fare card which we pre purchased for 99CHF and it helped so much. Jungfraujoch is spectacular. To me, it is worth a trip. The altitude didn't bother us as there were 3 stops on the way up which help us acclimate . Lunch at Piz Gloria and visiting Trummelbach falls to me is something that a tourist must do but to me once is enough.Wengen is pretty and entails less travel time from Lauterbrunnen with our luggages But having said that, Murren is the place I would want to stay on my next visit. We went there twice. I love the place so much. It gave me a 'Heidi ' feeling.Lucerne was a nice end to our trip. It was hot so the rain was a welcome relief. It has the scenery and the shopping on the old town. Though food was still expensive but shopping was fun as we found some good deals. It was a very nice though tiring trip. On our next trip, instead of 3 countries in 2& 1/2 weeks, I would do 2 countries so we would have time to relax and listen to music played on the streets. I would pack a week before the trip instead of the night before so I can go thru my things and pack lighter.I would definitely bring a portable transformer as some hotels don't have it. Travel takes a lot of planning and can be exhausting but it opens up a whole new world different from home that we learn to adjust. We learn to laugh about being lost, struggling with sign languages as we communicate But I would not have it any other way. Thanks for everything!
sally,
It's good to hear that you had such a fantastic time on your holiday. Thanks for posting.
"Travel takes a lot of planning and can be exhausting but it opens up a whole new world"
Rick has said that "travel is accelerated living". I often think about that phrase on days when I'm exhausted during trips.
Cheers!
Transformer or plug adapter?
I meant voltage converter- to convert from our 110 to their 220.
Loved reading your report Sally, thanks!
No big deal, but a voltage converter is, by definition, a transformer. It "transforms" one voltage to another.
