I guess my next job is to figure out how to format the cards. This 6300 camera is new and I didn't have to do that on my older model.

I didn't see your original post, but as for formatting your card, you should go to the menu and then if it is like other Nikons, look for the little wrench (tool) and the "format card" should be there. It will tell you that all of the images on the card will be erased so if there are images on it you will have to lose them to format it. If this is a new camera then I would suggest that you get new memory cards to use with this camera.
