I thought I followed Rick Steves' instructions on booking reservations on the TGV system from Berne to Paris in July by stating that my pick up option was Turkmenistan ( any country other than U.S. or a Western Europe one ). It still requested a contact address. I gave my daughter's T-stan address thinking the site would say, OK. We'll just email you the tickets. Instead I was directed to the payment window and received a message saying the tickets would be sent to the T-stan address. Which wouldn't be so bad, except the success rate of her actually receiving them is low.So I aborted the mission. What did I do wrong? Help!
Choose Canada instead. It will give you the option to have the ticket emailed to you so you can print it out yourself.
I'm sorry, but Alan's suggestion won't work. The only tickets you can print yourself are Prem's for travel entirely within France. If you choose Canada as your country of residence, the only choice you will be given is to have the ticket sent to Canada by regular mail.
If you book your ticket ASAP on the Swiss Rail site, you can get a discount fare. That fare probably won't be as low as the best one offered by tgv-europe, but it will be a lot less than the standard fare.
Sorry, I wasn't aware that there were restrictions on this if the journey went outside of France. The booking I made recently was from Paris to Cannes and I was given the option of self-printing the tickets.
