We want to take the TGV from Paris to Basel this September. We will have both a French Rail pass for five days and then a 22 day Swiss Rail pass for the remainder of our holiday. Can anyone tell me what the cost of the TGV trip will cost.
Do you mean what you will pay on top of your pass? That would be for a reserved seat, as required by TGV? I can't answer, having avoided passes as expensive compared to invidual fares (which include the seat reservation in the stated price) for my leisurely style of travel. So, if that's what you are asking, I will look forward to answers from those who have more experience.
I believe that for the Paris/Basel run, you will be on the TGV Lyria train. This is also an international run. The Eurail website shows a reservation fee of 9E for a second class seat and 21E for a first class seat. Here's the link. http://www.eurail.com/planning/train-seat-reservations/reservation-fees
Thank you for the link. Maybe that will clear up the cost for the tickets and if we get a discount by being pass holders.
For your Paris pass, a lot will depend on how much train travel you do for your 5 days. I'm not aware that you will get any discount that you can get for being a pass holder.
