temporary aircard for laptop

We're renting an apartment for two weeks in Amsterdam in late August. The apartment belongs to a friend of a friend. The apartment does not have wireless access, but the owners said that it won't be a problem as long as our laptop is wireless because we can get a temporary card. Does anyone know what this means? We will follow up with them directly, but I want to be sure I can easily get online from the apartment. Can we purchase or rent an aircard there? Perhaps they will have one for us. Will it require any technical skills on my part to install it? I've never used an aircard and want to make sure I know what I'm doing.

Thanks!

They're probably taking about accessing the internet via the data network of one of the wireless phone carriers. The carrier would provide a tiny USB modem which will allow a connection to their network. It doesn't require any technical skill, you simply plug it into your laptop. I'm not sure which companies provide the best deal, but I'm sure your friend steer you in the right direction.

I know I could get an aircard here, but don't want to buy it and sign a long-term contract. I wondered if they offered better deals there.

From what I understand, there are pay-as-you-go deals you can get for just data networks once you're in Europe. I'm not sure who offers the best deals..a local would have to help you out with that.
