Tegelberg Cable Car and Luge

We are going to Bavria next year and wanted to take the Telgelberg Cable Car up and luge down. I have been trying to find a website that explains the ages but am unable to find one. Does anyone know the minimum age for the luge? My daughter will be 1 and a half and we plan to luge down with her.

don't know the official min age, but recall seeing adults holding little children in front of them (in other words, sitting in front of the adults, in between their legs) on the luge. But not sure just how young the children were. Worst case scenario and 1.5 yr old kids are not allowed, you could always just go down via the cablecar. The Tegelberg is great, btw; you see Neuschwanstein below and the views from up top are amazing. Even if you can't do the luge, due to your kid's age, it's a great experince to be up there, taking in the striking scenery of the Bavarian countryside. Enjoy.

I went on the Tegelberg Gondola & luge last May. These are 2 separate "rides" with 2 separate admissions. The luge is at the bottom of the mountain and next door is the gondola. You can not take the "Cable Car up and luge down".
The website I used is: tegelbergbahn.de

Thanks both of you for your reply. We will definitely go to look down on the castle, for sure. I will also check out that website too!

We spent 4 days in Fussen Last summer. We did the castles, but did not take the gondola up to the top. We did however do the luge on 2 seperate times. We have 2 teenagers and they loved it. I do not know of a minimum age but I do recall a rear end collision and the end one day. My son got a little bruised(legend has it he may have been trying to go a little to fast.) That being said it was one of the highlights of the trip. Both teenagers and the adults all enjoyed the ride, but you just have to be careful. Have a great trip.

My wife and I did the luge there several years ago. It was our first - but by no means our last - one and we enjoyed it thoroughly. As we moved up in the world of sommerrodelbahen we have noted that it is, to a degree, the bunny slope of luges. It has a free running luge. Several of the black diamond type have roller coaster wheels which are above and below the track to hold on. This one is loose in the channel. I lost 14 inches of skin on right forearm on my next to last, fastest run at Tegelberg when some idiot who had come off their ride walked in front of me to cross the track. I was going just fast enough to be distracted and lose control of my ride. The scar was from friction burn. Still liked it enough to get back on and do another - not so fast. Not sure if I think that a toddler or baby between my legs (that's where the brake is) at 30 mph with nothing holding them in is such a cool idea.

I'm not sure what the minimum age is for riding with an adult. The minimum to ride alone is 6. We took our 5-year-old down this summer and she had to ride with me, not on her own. There's also a pretty cool playground right next to the luge. Make sure you go on a not-rainy day. The luge closes down if it's raining.

I've been to Germany twice. The second time I went, we toured Neuschwanstein Castle. We hiked from the castle to the Telgelberg Cable Car at the top. It was a wonderful, memorable and challenging hike. We took the cable car off the mountain. Once at the bottom, we did the Luge. It was so much fun! But, I must warn you, it can be dangerous. We went down it once without a problem. When we went down the luge a second time, we had a problem. My sister's luge car slowed way down, and I was the one in the next luge car. She'd rounded a curve, so I couldn't see her. Once I saw her, it was too late. I ran smack dab into her. Then, my other sister had the same problem, as she was behind me. She ran into me. I sustained the brunt of the injuries. Hurt my back and got pretty banged/bruised up. The worst part, though, is that I was 12 weeks pregnant, and the next morning, I discovered I was having a miscarriage. The doctor at the hospital believed it was directly related to the accident on the luge. So, although it's a lot of fun, be very cautious, especially with such a little one!
