I'm traveling to Germany and Austric with my 16-year old daughter a week from now. What are the teenagers there wearing so she will fit in?
Teenagers in Germany, Austria wear pretty much the same they wear in the States. A&F-style etc. If you want visit this Flyer frequently to get an idea about what is currently sold to Germans, Austrians. It looks like this week they focus on male cloths but they actually cater to both sexes and are probably gonna have some new girls' and women's clothes on sale next week again.
I just got back from Central Europe. If your daughter wears her fashionable American clothes, she'll fit in fine. Some of the "worst" of today's styles are quite popular--very low rise jeans--although they do look better on a thin European frame than on a bigger Minnesotan frame. I'm a mom, and when I wear my fashionable clothes, I fit in without a problem. What doesn't work is everyday clothes: t-shirts with writing, baggy sweatshirts, athletic shoes. One thing about shoes: on my recent trip I decided that on days with a lot of walking, I'd rather be blister-free than stylish. I didn't regret that...One thought: why not give her money for shopping in Germany? My then teenage daughters favorite day on a trip to Germany in 2000 was when we let them sleep-in and shop instead of sightsee!
