Hi! I going with a group of 6 to Spain in a little under two weeks. We're going from Madrid to Barcelona by train. However I was thinking of using a taxi to get from the Sants train station to our hotel (Hotel Colon) in the Barri Gotic region. I figure 6 ppl with luggage is a lot to haul on/off the HOHO bus passes we're buying. Is this the best way? How much does someone estimate it will cost?
A hop on/off bus is not appropriate for getting to you hotel even if the hotel is on the route. Six and luggage is too much for a single taxi. But three people in taxi is a reasonable rate and it is door to door. It cannot be that expensive.
Group of 6 with luggage - take 2 taxis. Cab fare in Barcelona is still fairly reasonable compared to Paris or Rome.
Younwill need two taxis. Barcelona taxis are fair and reasonable. We paid about 8 euros from our hotel near Place Catalunya to Estacio Sants, two people with luggage. That was with the " call" fee. You will be taking one from a cab stand, but going a bit farther. Split three ways per cab, it should not be bad at all.
Thanks guys! Definitely going with two taxis!
Based on fares of one year ago, between Sants and Hotel Colon it will cost roughly 10€ per cab including luggage fee, a little more if your trip is late night-early morning when the cabs charge a higher rate.
Agree with Lola and Elizabeth. We were a bit farther down La Rambla and our fare from the Sants train station was 13E in a bit of traffic. Not bad at all for taxi fares.
