Taxi fares in Paris

How much should I expect to pay for a taxi from my hotel in the 15th arrondisement to Courbevoie? Google maps has it listed at 14.5km away.

When he says not terribly expensive, what does that mean? Opinions vary. I would take the metro; it is easy to use and much cheaper.

I have used it carrying luggage and managed. However, it will take more time to travel that distance.

We used taxis in Paris often and found that they were within reason.

I too found them reasonable, but be aware you will pay more if you call one to pick you up at your hotel versus walking to a taxi stand. Also, the rates go up after a certain hour in the evening.

Courbevoie is an area just to the west of Central Paris and is actually reachable by Metro. Esplanade de La Defense (Line 1). If you felt it too far to walk you can get a taxi here - but this stop is the beginning of a major pedestrian zone throughout La Defense and there are maps and directional signs everywhere. Taxi might run approximately 20 euros at most (this is what I would normally pay traveling from east to west in Paris - you trip would be less is my guess). This area btw is usually missed by tourists - mainly because it is a business zone mostly and lots of new skyscraper buildings. However, there are some great outdoor sculpture everywhere as well as views of the Eiffel Tower from several elevated pedestrian bridges.

bon chance !

Most of our taxi rides were 7 to 12 euro. That was for two people. Since my mom has an achy knee it was the best way to get around. And as a bonus it's a great tour around the city.
