Tax Refund and Shopping in Paris

Hi

Will dept stores like Galeries and Printemps open on Easter Monday (5 apr)...i am there for the weekend and seems stores generally close on Sundays and easter holidays!

I was looking fwd to some shopping in paris. and has anyone used the 10% discount card issued to tourist at Printemps? Does it apply to design goods eg. - Chanel and Prada?

Lastly, is there a Tax Refund counter at Gare De lyon or Gare Du nord train stations? i will be leaving paris via train to Switzerland.

many thanks for any advice!

Hi Steve

Thanks a million for the answers! it was hard to get info on this.

Yes, I will be exiting from Zurich back home. (Leaving paris via train to Montreux).

I was quite surprise that Switzerland is not in the EU.

In this case, i guess i cant get the stuff i bought in Paris processed for tax refund in Zurich?

I checked Tax Refund site, they have offices in Galeries and downtown but i think will still need customs to endorse them.

Probably not in the stations. If you are leaving from an EU airport, there will be a station for the VAT refund. As an example, I bought jewelry in Antwerp in July, and got the refund in Lisbon in October. Keep your receipts, and the original box.

The 10% discount at both Galeries and Printemps is genreally not good on designer items.

Galereis uses a "red dot" to indicate you can't use it and the "dot" is in almost all the designer areas.
