Tattoo in France?

I've been doing a little research and it seems that French tattoo parlors have pretty similar regulations as in the US. Anyone get a tat in FR before? Good Experience? I'm seriously thinking I might get some ink on my vacation.

Hey, Amanda! I've been thinking of tattoos for a while now, ... am nearing my 50th .. my sisters, who are both older, got theirs a couple years back. I'd love to hear what anyone has to say. It would be kinda special to say I got mine while in France. This, of course, would be after copious amount of wine. (I'm a wimp). Becky

Actually, Europe is far ahead of most of the US in terms of legislating tattooing and piercing. However, current legislation only covers sanitation issues, rather than the overall quality of the studio. So, as with anyplace else, you will need to check the skill of the artist who will be tattooing you, by asking to see a portfolio of his work. (Not flash, but actual work done by the artist.) As with any other country, France has some extraordinary artists and some really shoddy "professionals". Where will you be traveling?

I'll be in Paris and the Riviera. Timing wise, it would be more convenient to get it Paris but I plan on spending some time on the beach in the Riviera so having a new tattoo presents a sunbathing challenge. :)

I'll be traveling to Colmar, Beaune and Lyon, 2-3 days in each area. I assume Lyon might be my best bet.

I was also wondering this myself. I have been wanting a second tattoo for quite a while and had entertained the idea of getting one this summer while I am in France for a month.
I will be staying in a port city for three weeks and in Paris for another week. Any suggestions on how to find a tattoo parlor in Paris? I've been there twice before and I don't remember seeing any

Hi Amanda,

... I was reminded of what a lady recently revealed about her one and only tat. On her rump she has this: USDA Prime... says she wants to make the mortician smile one day... ciao! P

My daughter has just finished 3 months of college in Paris and got her first tattoo....I don't get it but then I'm the "older" gereration..haha Actually, it does look nice. Several of the other girls also got tattoos. Alix says she was very impressed with the art work in the shop. It's called Dragon Tattoo and it's in the Marais district. I'm sure you could find the address online.
