tarifa unica in Spanish Paradors

Hi,
I'm considering a night in a Spanish Parador. I have perused their website extensively. I see certain Paradors with relatively good rates that are listed as a "tarifa unica." My sense is that this is some sort of promotional rate, but it is not clear to me if I am eligible for this rate. I can make sense of other rates, like the golden age rates and the youth rates, but the tarifa unica escapes me. Thanks.

Without looking at the specific website, I can't say what "tarifa unica" means. It could mean that the room has only one price, regardless of the number of occupants.

Based on my good knowledge of Spanish, I kind of doubt that tarifa unica means single supplement.

But, I could be wrong. . .

I was right. Here is a definition from a translation site.

tarifa única

Plural: tarifas únicas

  1. single rate, flat rate, all-commodity rate, joint rate; Synonyms: tarifa fija, tasa fija, salario único, tarifa a tanto alzado, tasa a tanto alzado, tasa conjunta, tasa para productos básicos

Thanks Tyler. I've tried writing the contact people at parador.es, but they have not responded yet. My sense is that this is some sort of special (or "unique" price), perhaps a web-only special for certain paradors. The rooms that are available are double or matrimonio, so I'm pretty sure that these rooms are for more than one person. I see rate options like "Dias Dorados", "Escapada Joven," "Tarifa Unica," "Tarifa Oficial," and "Tarjeta de 5 Noches." Apart from "Tarifa Unica," the other four make perfect sense, although the Tarifa Unica price is typically by far the most competetive. My biggest concern is that I am not eligible for this rate for some reason (e.g. for not being and EU citizen). As soon as I get information from the Parador.es website, I will post it.

Dan, the paradores site is extremely confusing, both in Spanish and in English. I think that more than a special offer, it is simply a search function. In other words, one can search for all of the paradores with available rooms, on any given date, with a cost of a given, fixed price. Nowhere do I see any special conditions, but I'll give a ring a bit later and confirm.

Nice to see a fellow New Mexican -- I'm an Abq. native.

I read Spanish pretty well, and I take this to mean that a tarifa unica is a special promotion for September and that I'd better hurry up and reserve.

Answering your inquiry, we are pleased to inform you that the "tarifa unica" is a promotion that, during the month of September 2009, makes the cost of a standard double room 100 Euros room only, or 140 Euros with breakfast for two persons, VAT included. On Saturdays, the rate is 110 Euros room only, 150 Euros with breakfast.

"Dicha tarifa, al igual que el resto de tarifas promocionales que ofrece el hotel, tiene un cupo determinado de habitaciones a la venta, por lo que es conveniente realizar la reserva con la mayor antelación posible, para poder beneficiarse de la misma."

This rate, like other promotional rates that the hotel offers, has a specific quota of rooms for sale [at this rate], so that it is advisable to make your reservation as far in advance as possible, so that you can take advantage of same.

I called the paradores information number intermittently, throughout the day yesterday, but never got any response. (In their favor, they inagurated a new parador yesterday, and were probably dealing with the media circus involved in having the king, the president, etc. visit.) On the other hand, a rather surly Madrileño was quick to pick up the phone at their office number -- shame he was about as useful as an additional hole in one's head.

Dan, there seem to be prices available for the month of Sept. starting at €60, at least according to the website. What part of the country will you be visiting, and over what dates?

Thanks for the offer, adynata, but I think understand the rates now as well as the parador website.
