Tarifa Spain to Morocco

I will be in Tarifa Spain with a day trip by tour to Morocco. I have been warned by some folks to prepare to get sick from the food and drink. Any comments on this. Thanks

I've only spent 2 days in Morocco, but I did not get sick. I ate in restaurants, drank tea and bottled water. I took fairly normal precautions (e.g. handwashing). I'm sure some people do get sick, but don't assume that it is automatic. Have the people who warned you been to Morocco?

I had the same experience as Laura. Family of 4, including 2 young kids, no one got sick. Don't drink the water, eat well-cooked food, only eat fruit you can peel, etc. YMMV, of course. Don't forget the usual assortment of OTC tummy meds, just in case!

Two weeks ago my family and I spent 2 nights in Tarifa and made a day trip to Tangier. We took two 2 liter bottled water from Tarifa with us. Due to Ramadan, most of the restaurants were closed so our tour guide took us to a place he knew would be open. The food (cooked) was great and we enjoyed the live music. No one got sick. We enjoyed our day in Tangier. You will like it too.

Have also done this trip with no problems at all. Bottled water and well cooked food should take care of that concern. Wonderful day trip btw... Have fun.

We did the day trip over to Tanger and neither one of us got sick. The lunch was actually quite tasty. Don't forget to check out the seaside Roman ruin & museum just north of Tarifa (at Bolonia). It is very worthwhile.

You are unlikely to get sick on a day-trip to Tangier. It's the most westernized of Moroccan cities. Most of the problems tend to happen in smaller towns further to the south. I did get sick in a small town, but that was after eating questionable mystery meat at a no-name restaurant. You'll be fine.
