Tangier Day Trip Guide

Based on a referral in Rick Steves' Spain 2008 guidebook, my friends and I hired Aziz Begdouri for an all day tour of Tangier, Morocco. He responded promptly to all emails, took care of our tickets, including the ferry from Tarifa, Spain, and showed us a great time. Our tour was varied and interesting. There were 3 of us plus 2 others who joined us when their guide could not make it. He found a restaurant in the Casbah that accommodated one friend with food allergies. He is an interesting man, speaks 6 languages, and shows his love of his city. If there was anything to remark about, he gets calls on his cellphone constantly but does try to be discreet about taking calls while paying attention to his group. Not always easy to do.
I recommend him highly. Marlene

The catamaran ferry cost 55 Euros then, but the fare is now 70 Euros. Price went up July 1. Aziz charged us 35 Euros per person. So the total will be $105 Euros per person. This was for the 8-hour Gran Tour. Part of it is in an air conditioned minibus, the rest is walking through the Casbah. He has a 5-hour tour for the Casbah only, which cost less. We also tipped the driver extra.

You make reservations with him by email. He sends a booking number with explicit instructions. At the Port of Tarifa, you given them the booking number and get your return ferry tickets. You do not pay for your tickets. You pay Aziz at the end of the tour.

We parked in a 24-hour parking lot in Tarifa for 12 Euros for the day but there are free parking lots by the port, at least several people on TripAdvisor say so. We preferred having someone watching the car.
