I will be arriving to Zurich airport and would like to know if there is a direct train from the Zurich airport train station to Basel. I know there is a train from Zurich airport to Zurich main train station then transfer to another train to Basel. I'm hoping there is a direct train from Zurich airport to Basel.

Maggie, There are a few direct trains from Zurich Airport to Basel, however most have one change at Zurich HBf. Whether you'll be able to connect with a direct train will depend to a large extent on what time your flight arrives. Check www.sbb.ch for details. Happy travels!

The direct trains leave hourly at 4 minutes after the hour. Personally I would not wait more than 10 pr 15 minutes for a direct train; it is very easy to change at the main staion for a faster travel time.

There is no need to book in advance. Reservations are not required and the trains do not sell out. Just buy your ticket when you get to the station in the terminal. This is after you go through passport control,mwalkmthrough customs,mand pass baggage clai, just follow the train signs to the train station below.
