Switzerland weather

We are arriving in Zurich on Sunday and traveling to Geneva via Murren in three days. I've been watching the weather by going on Swiss webcams. It has been doing nothing but raining for the past two weeks!
I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed, but the 10 day forecast says guess what...RAIN !!!

If you want to know what the weather is like at any given minute, go this website for a live cam view: http://www.feratel.com/en/home.html Otherwise, if you want someone to tell you that it won't rain... well, good luck.

The weather forecast always says "rain" in the Berner Oberland region:) Those high peaks always play havoc with the weather patterns. While it may be raining in the Murren, it is often dry across the valley, and vice versa....so don't give up hope.

agree w/ Michael above. A few yrs ago, my family and I enjoyed a few weeks traveling in Switzerland and France. The Swiss part of the trip was 1st (we traveled by car, started in Zurich, ended in Paris) and included Zurich, Lucerne, Bernese Oberland, Zermatt and Montreux. People we know who travel to Switzerland often told us we were crazy b/c May is known to be a very rainy month there. But it was the ONLY time we could travel that year, so we hedged our bets and went. Well....we had GREAT, sunny weather the entire time! Was perfect, pleasent traveling/sight-seeiing/hiking weather. So, I'm w/ Michael; stay positive! No guarantees w/ weather anytime you travel, but hope all works out well for you! Happy travels.

Just to make you feel a BIT better, include my dittos to what was posted about the weather. Those Alps make any significant forecast outside of 24 hours a nightmare. This Spring/early Summer has been particularly bizarre. A friend of mine returned to Davos last week and he has already had snow and hot weather since returning home (bear in mind his version of hot weather is about 78!)

I was in Lauterbrunnen last year on June 21. It was cold, raw and even snowed a bit. The next day blue skies and weather in the 70's. We had beautiful weather for most of the trip. I'll cross my fingers for you!!

I've lived and visited in both the Bavarian Alps and the Swiss Alps since 1968, and the best advice I can offer is that, if the weather is good, it will be at its best in the morning and early afternoon, then it's anyone's guess as to what will happen. I've come to realize that if I'm there for a short time, I just have to accept the weather and try to take in the "local color" until the weather changes. Sometimes it doesn't. When the weather is not the best, I always tell my wife, "we will plan to return." At this time of year, could I suggest that you pack for the weather and not let it spoil your trip. Having said that, I hope that a change in the weather is to your liking and enjoy!

I am heading to Montreux tomorrow to start a tour of Switzerland and the weather looks dicey for the week.
